Katarra Shaw is a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Licensed Midwife. She was first drawn to Lactation science and education by witnessing an IBCLC work with a breastfeeding mother baby dyad for a miraculous outcome. During this time, while attending midwifery school at a birth center in Texas, she was influenced by the magic and importance of the breastfeeding years and how significant support and education is to the success of breastfeeding.
Katarra's commitment to Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding support is to promote the health of mothers and babies in her community with her work as an IBCLC.
Her bodywork practice also supports breastfeeding challenges for babies and mothers alike. Katarra's homebirth practice clients receive Lactation and Breastfeeding Support as part of their care. www.lunamadremidwifery.com
Her lactation mentors are Debbie Pierce IBCLC, Cathy McLendon IBCLC and Theresa Watson IBCLC. She completed her Lactation training at the Mother Baby Center at Enloe Hospital, learning from all of the staff and caring for local mothers and babies. Her bodywork mentors are Elaine Martin and Jean Louise Green, Advanced Rolf Practitioners of Structural Integration.
